Spain is a popular tourist destination, and it received 9.1 million international tourists in just the month of July, 2022. That’s double the number of tourists it received in the same month of 2021, though the pandemic probably had something to do with that. With the more relaxed rules regarding travel and coming together in groups these days, it’s an expected rise in the number of visitors to Spain.
Also, the excellent theme parks in the country probably have something to do with the regular influx of visitors. If you’re ever coming to Spain, then you may want to include the following theme parks into your itinerary.
1. PortAventura World
This is the largest theme park in the country, and you’ll find it on the Costa Daurada in Catalonia. It has to be large, since it starts with 6 hotels featuring different themes, such as Mediterranean, Caribbean, Rustic Werstern, and Victorian-style.
Then you also realize that the whole place actually hosts 3 different theme parks. You’ve got the 6 worlds of fun, 40 attractions for the family, and the daily shows in PortAventura Park. Then there’s Ferrari Land, which is the only European park focused on the Italian motor team, and which transports you to the most iconic sites in Italy. Finally, you can also visit the Caribe Aquatic Park, with a pirate setting and 16 pools and attractions.
2. Terra Mitica
It’s not surprising that you’ll find this theme park in Benidorm, which is famous for its partying culture. This is also one huge park, split into 5 zones themed from various civilizations. Each zone does have its own set of rides and thrills for the whole family. You’ve got milder rides for the kids, while the adventure-seekers have lots of adrenalin-racing rides to try out.
Each land holds several different shows each day, so try those out as well. And besides the main park that requires an entrance fee, there’s also an area here where it’s free to enter. This area has lots of restaurants and shops, along with pay-per-ride attractions as well.
3. Parque Warner
Otherwise known as just Warner Park, you’ll find this place in San Martín de la Vega, Madrid. While Universal Studios may have its Harry Potter attractions, this theme park hosts several rides based on its DC superheroes. You’ve got rides based on Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, and they sure are thrilling. But they also have a haunted mansion for the Scooby Doo fans.
This is a fantastic theme park, and it’s widely regarded as among the very best theme parks in the entirety of Europe. It’s also the home of the Venganza del Enigma (Revenge of the Enigma or Riddler’s Revenge). It’ll take you up to 328 feet up in the air, and then you’ll suddenly drop at a speed of about 50 mph. That’ll wake you up!
4. Siam Park
Located in Tenerife, somehow someone decided that it makes sense for a Spanish theme park to base itself on Thailand. But it’s actually a great idea, as this is one of the best water parks in the whole country. And it doesn’t hurt that you’re surrounded by manmade rivers and waterfalls, lush vegetation, and Thai architecture.
This place has 29 slides, and many of them are good enough for even young kids. But then are several rides here that will most likely raise your blood pressure. Among them is the Tower of Power, which will take you 92 feet high up before you slide down at a speed of about 50 mph, and then you even finish the ride through a giant aquarium full for rays and sharks!
