If you’re planning a trip to Knott’s Berry Farm with your family, you’re in for a treat. With dozens of rides and attractions, the park has something for everyone. However, to make the most of your visit, it’s important to plan ahead. Here are some tips to help you maximize your time and enjoy the park to the fullest.
Buy Your Tickets Ahead of Time
There’s no need to waste time standing in line at the park to purchase tickets. Instead, buy them online from Knott’s Berry Farm’s website or from their trusted partner, Get Away Today. This will save you both time and money.
Arrive Early
To get the most out of your day at Knott’s Berry Farm, arrive at least 30 minutes before the gates open in the morning. This helps you avoid the crowds and make sure you are among the first to enter the park grounds.
Plan Your Route
Take a look at the park map (you can access this on the park’s website) and decide which rides you’ll go to first so you can familiarize yourself with the routes.
Carry a Map
Grab a park map when you arrive and be sure to check the schedule for the day. The schedule changes frequently.
Hit the Popular Rides First
Knott’s Berry Farm’s famous rides have long lines even early in the day and the lines continue till closing. Thrill rides like Timber Mountain, Hangtime, Ghost Rider, and Pony Express are always a favorite among visitors. So go to these rides as early as possible!
Use the Fast Lane
If visiting during summer or holidays, a “Fast Lane” ticket will make it worth your while. For a fee, you’ll get a wristband that will take you to the front of the most popular attractions in the park. Keep in mind that they only issue a limited number of passes daily so buying in advance will be a good idea.
Eat at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant
This restaurant is located right outside of the theme park. Big groups of 12 or more can make reservations in advance. If you have a smaller group, just go there at an off time so you don’t have to deal with long lines. And be sure to save some room for the famous boysenberry pie!
Visit on a Non-Peak Day
If school is in session, chances are good the parks won’t be packed. However, weekends, holidays, school breaks and summertime can be extremely busy at Knott’s Berry Farm.
Use the Knott’s Park App
Knott’s Berry Farm has a mobile app which tells you the wait times for the rides and show schedules.
Consider a Dining Plan
Knott’s currently has All-Day Dining Plan and All-Season Dining Plan. Visit their website for the latest rates. If you think you’ll be eating a lot at the park, it may be worth it.
Know the Kiddie Rides
Knott’s Berry Farm is a popular amusement park that offers a variety of rides for people of all ages. If you’re planning a trip to the park with your toddlers, it’s important to know which rides are suitable for their age and height.
One of the most popular rides for toddlers is the Flying Ace. This ride allows kids to sit inside a quality airplane and ‘take-off’ up and down in circular motions. The Camp Bus is another popular ride that moves in circular clockwise and counter-clockwise motions. Kids can enjoy the experience of riding in a mini school bus.
The Balloon Race is a gentle ride that takes you and your kids up in an air balloon basket as it slowly spins you around in a carousel. This ride also provides an aerial view of Camp Snoopy. The Grand Sierra Railroad is another gentle that will take you around the park. During the trip, you’ll be able to see different Peanuts characters.
If your toddler loves driving, then the Pig Pen’s Mud Buggies and Rocky Mountain Trucking Co. are perfect for them. In Pig Pen’s Mud Buggies, your child can get into a small car and ‘navigate’ the steering wheel as they move up and down the track. Rocky Mountain Trucking Co. provides a great bonding experience for parents and kids, as kids get to drive their parents around on a track.
For the adventurous toddler, Timberline Twister is a small roller coaster with turns and small hills, that is perfect for them. Woodstock’s Airmail takes kids up and down in a bumpy fashion, in a much gentler version compared to adult vertical rides.
When visiting with kids, you can make use of Knott’s Parent Locator Service. This service allows your cell phone number to be on file for your child in case of any emergency. This can be helpful if your child is found without you and is too young or distressed to remember your phone number. You can simply have your information pulled up from the file in the Information Office.
It’s also important to note that children under 3 years of age can enter the park for free, while those within the 3-11 years of age range should get the ‘Junior Ticket’ in order to enter the park.
