When it comes to amusement parks in Georgia, most people immediately think about Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell, which is actually part of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. There’s no doubt that it’s not just among the best in the state (if not the absolute best), but it’s widely regarded as one of the best in the whole country.
Here, you can try out Batman: The Ride with its various twists and turns, go through treacherous hills on the Dahlonega Mine Train, and drop more than 200 feet in the aptly named Acrophobia. Kids will also have a blast with the speedy Acme Trucking Company and the high-flying Bugs Bunny High Sea ride. And that’s not even including the Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, with its giant wave pool plus tunnels and slides.
But Six Flags isn’t the only amusement park in Georgia that’s worth your attention. If you’ve been going to Six Flags here for too many years in a row, then perhaps it’s time for you to try out the other amusement parks in the state. Or you can take some time in Six Flags in Georgia, and then supplement that with a visit with these other amusement parks:
1. SkyView Atlanta
If you’re done with Six Flags, then you can just hop on over to the nearby SkyView Atlanta. Here, you can enjoy plenty of different rides and thrills as well.
Your adventure can start with a ride on the Ferris wheel gondolas, which reach a height of 20 stories. You’ll get fantastic views of downtown Atlanta with the glass floors, while you’re secured in your Ferrari-style seats. Then there’s a spinning classroom here in which you get your hands on exotic technology, plus many other rides for all ages.
2. Wild Adventures
With more than 40 attractions and rides here, things sure get wild and boredom won’t be an issue. The adults and the braver (and bigger) kids can try out the Aviator, with the telescoping tower that’s 100 feet tall. The place also has the seasonal Splash Island waterpark, and if it’s open, you really need to try out the intense water slide such as the Kalani Blasters and the Bonzai Pipelines.
As for the kids, there are plenty of choices as well, with the Ant Farm Express as a perennial favorite.
3. Funopolis Family Fun Center
While some famous amusement parks have very long histories, this one is actually fairly new. It only opened a little over a decade ago. Yet it didn’t take long for the place to establish a solid reputation, especially for families with much younger kids.
You get classic attractions like the go-karts and the bumper cars, along with laser tag, mini golf, mini bowling, and an entire arcade filled with video games. But both the adults and the kids can enjoy the Water Wars and Down Pour Derby, where each side gets a bucket of water balloons that you can launch against the opposing side.
Also, you have the challenging Escape Room, where you find yourself trapped inside an Egyptian tomb. You have 1 hour at the most to find all the secret clues to unlock the puzzle and escape. And you even get a free round of go-kart or mini golf if you do solve the puzzle!
4. Fun Spot America
This is one fun place, with its go-karts and bumper boats that will get you splashed. These are attractions that are tailored specifically for the younger kids, who may not enjoy the more “thrilling” rides meant for the adults. You also have the Ferris wheel and the zip line for kids.
There’s also mini golf here, but this time you have 3 courses to pick from. There’s an easy one for the newbies, and the hardest course is truly challenging!
